Gdynia is one of the youngest cities in Poland, it is part of the Tricity agglomeration and serves as an important port on the Baltic coast. The plan to transform a small fishing village into an important port appeared in the interwar period, when the situation in Gdańsk was uncertain for the Polish authorities.

Polish rugby club based in Gdynia. Four-time Polish Champion. The club's home ground is the National Rugby Stadium.
